'freewheeling' or 'raucous' as hyped, but, rather,
   > childish or Seinfeld-smarmy" and, "collective creation rarely rises
   > above the mundane and banal". Yes indeed. It ends by quoting Orwell,
   > "Political language - and with variations this is true of all
   > political parties, from Conservatives to Anarchists - is designed to
   > make lies sound truthful and murder respectable, and to give an
   > appearance of solidity to pure wind ..."

Modern Marxists, such as the ones here in England who go under the name Stop
the War and the Green Party, are addicted to it. Why, one of them is in one
of the papers I work on this very week, saying: 'Iran is a civilised,
non-nuclear country being bullied and purged in a conspiracy between the
Bush diktat and modern capitalism. We must discover our compassionate
mutualities to build a diverse and peaceful planet.'

The man is about 50-55, long grey hair and the bony, smug look of the
lifelong middle-class squatter/loafer/druggy/public sector idler. His piece
went unremarked until I and a colleague pointed out its manifest nonsense.
The journalist who canvassed this man's opinions, has also brought in a
prominent Muslim to write, who, on one occasion blithely called - in windy
politicalese - for media blackouts if a Muslim was arrested on suspicion of
terrorist activity; no other member of society, just Muslims. The
journalist, a middle class Communist from Leeds in his 20s, sees nothing
wrong in this at all. He, by the look of him, feels rather virtuous.
