   I'm an American of half-English descent, and I'm disgusted at what   
   happened to that country.  Such intelligent and efficient people,   
   but something happened along the way and now their society is   
   doomed.  They are so paranoid and getting more totalitarian in   
   their attempts at social engineering, so that they have actually   
   begun locking up obese people in mental institutions (danger to   
   oneself) and are now planning to tax fats and oils in an attempt   
   to price unhealthy foods out of the reach of the unwashed proles   
   and thus save the NHS millions of pounds a year.  And everywhere   
   you go there are surveillance cameras, ostensibly watching for   
   criminals and terrorists, but soon to be devoted to catching   
   Britons consuming unapproved fatty snacks.
