   we're still in the dark ages of computing before we've actually decided   
   that cooperating to build total knowledge systems is better than   
   haphazardly doing whatever the fuck we can scrabble together while   
   locked in uncooperative competition with each other...   
      
   AI as a search tool is mostly just making up for us not doing that,   
   except it's more unreliable because it's prone to just make up shit.   
      
   just yesterday i was pulled into skimming an article by an AI summary   
   where this logician i follow was quoted saying AI was useless in terms   
   of math development. guy wasn't actually quoted in the article.   
   curiously he did actually say that in a different article... but not the   
   article that was summarized. it's just really fucking bizarre error a   
   human summary would not make.   
      
   it's still a total toss up to me whether using gemini or googling it   
   with "reddit" after is more useful to me.
