Let me help:
Of course humans are the same. Culturally though they are different in
relation to values origins and ways of being. And Vive la difference!
Canadians and Americans have very different roots and origins. The people
who formed America were revolutionaries and those who developed what is now
Canada were happy with the British form of government and Peace, Order and
Good Government was our ideal. Unlike America, who also had a puritan
influence, it was the Scots who built this country.
Canada, and how it evolved, is about what happened to the large area of
Northern North America that Britain held on to. The people in it evolved as
foreign strangers from the USA, and things just kept on happening in their
own way, like in any foreign country.
From the book how the Scot’s created Canada:
“This book demonstrates the astounding extent to which Canada's fundamental
institutions and culture are a product of early, tough-minded Scottish
immigrants. Through the fur trade, Scots formed the backbone of North
America's first continent-wide industry more than two hundred years ago.
They then used their wealth and influence to create the first banks,
railways, shipping lines, universities, and dominated politics, the
military and the country's early newspapers and literature.”
Our first prime minister was Sir John A MacDonald and the majority of PMs
since then have been Scottish.
The French equally formed what makes us Canadian and their influence is
formidable to this day. We get along through compromise.
