XPost: alt.politics.obama, alt.politics.radical-left, alt.politi       s.socialism.democratic       XPost: alt.fan.rush-limbaugh, talk.politics.guns, sac.politics       From: democrat-criminals@mail.house.gov              https://finance.yahoo.com/news/ben-jerrys-co-founder-arrested-       085247847.html              The co-founder of Ben & Jerry’s has been arrested in Washington during a       protest against the prosecution of Julian Assange.              Ben Cohen, who co-founded the ice cream brand with his friend Jerry       Greenfield in 1977, was arrested by police for blocking the entrance to       the Department of Justice (DOJ) building on Thursday.              It is the latest headache for Unilever, which owns Ben & Jerry’s, which       was named “an international sponsor of war” by the Ukrainian government on       Monday.              The company, which also owns Marmite, Hellmann’s mayonnaise and Dove, was       accused by Ukrainian veterans of “contributing hundreds of millions in tax       revenues to a state which is killing civilians”.              Unilever has made a virtue of basing its business model on “social       purpose” but has continued to sell food and hygiene products in Russia       following its invasion of Ukraine.              Mr Cohen, 72, tweeted later on Thursday that he had been released from       police custody after being held for three hours.              He said: “It’s time for @POTUS to follow thru with his promise --       Journalism is NOT a crime. #Dropthecharges and #FreeAssange.”              Mr Assange has been imprisoned at Belmarsh Prison in London since April       2019 after leaking state secrets on Wikileaks, and faces possible       extradition to the US.              Mr Cohen said that Mr Assange’s imprisonment was against freedom of       speech.              Pictures show the 72-year-old confronting police and sitting on the       pavement as pink smoke swirls around him.              Mr Assange, 52, has been indicted by the Justice Department on 18 charges       for the publication of the Afghan War Diary and the Iraq War Logs.              Last month the WikiLeaks editor lost his latest appeal against extradition       to the United States, where he could be sentenced to 175 years in prison.              Unilever’s Ben & Jerry’s brand has adopted hardline stances on social       issues and geopolitics, finding itself at the centre of controversy on a       number of occasions.              On Tuesday Ben & Jerry’s was attacked by Conservatives in the US after it       demanded that the “stolen indigenous land” of Mount Rushmore be handed       back to the Lakota Sioux tribe in an Independence Day tweet.              Unilever declined to comment. Ben & Jerry’s has been contacted for comment                     --       We live in a time where intelligent people are being silenced so that       stupid people won't be offended.              Durham Report: The FBI has an integrity problem. It has none.              No collusion - Special Counsel Robert Swan Mueller III, March 2019.       Officially made Nancy Pelosi a two-time impeachment loser.              Thank you for cleaning up the disaster of the 2008-2017 Obama / Biden       fiasco, President Trump.              Under Barack Obama's leadership, the United States of America became the       The World According To Garp. Obama sold out heterosexuals for Hollywood       queer liberal democrat donors.              President Trump boosted the economy, reduced illegal invasions, appointed       dozens of judges and three SCOTUS justices.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
