XPost: mi.misc, alt.politics.democrats, alt.fan.rush-limbaugh       XPost: talk.politics.guns, sac.politics, alt.society.labor-unions       From: remailer@domain.invalid              Ford Motor Co. asked 106 more employees at Sterling Axle Plant not       to report to work Monday, the automaker announced.              This brings the layoff total to 268 at the Michigan facility, Ford       said.              The latest layoffs are a consequence of the strike, because Sterling       Axle Plant must reduce its production of parts that would normally       be shipped to Chicago Assembly Plant and Kentucky Truck Plant, both       of which have workers on strike, Ford said.              "Our production system is highly interconnected, which means the       UAW’s targeted strike strategy has knock-on effects for facilities       that are not directly targeted for a work stoppage," Ford spokesman       Dan Barbossa said in a release.              By close of business Monday, Ford had about 16,600 workers striking       at three factories in Michigan, Illinois and Kentucky plus 2,580       layoffs at 10 sites related to the layoffs in Michigan, Illinois and       Ohio. The targeted strikes against Ford, General Motors and       Stellantis, which owns Jeep, Ram Trucks, Chrysler and Dodge, began       Sept. 15.              Earlier Monday, Ford Executive Chair Bill Ford urged the UAW       leadership to bring an end to the strike with what he and other Ford       executives have called a record UAW contract offer.              https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/companies/ford-sterling-axle-lays-       off-106-more-workers-as-parts-not-needed-for-plants-on-uaw-       strike/ar-AA1im6cv              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
