Thieves smashed a truck into a San Francisco CVS store early Friday
   morning, police and staff said.

Workers hastily closed off the entrance with gift wrap before closing down
   the store, witness photos show.

At around 2:48 a.m. Friday, five suspected thieves drove into the store's
entrance and stole an ATM before fleeing in another vehicle, police said.

The CVS store at 32nd Avenue in the city's sleepy Outer Richmond
neighborhood has been left in disrepair after the incident. The store is
currently closed to the public as of late Friday morning, with no
   reopening time posted.

"We’re cooperating with local police as they investigate an incident at
our 32nd Avenue store overnight," said CVS spokesperson Amy Thibault. "A
truck crashed into the building and the ATM was stolen."

The CVS store was closed at the time of the incident, and plans to reopen
as soon as the police investigation is complete, Thibault added.

A store worker said a truck had driven into the store's entrance and that
the store was working with police following the incident, but declined to
share further information or their name as they are not authorized to
   speak with the press.

A photo posted to X shows a toppled Lottery machine, damaged shelving and
a mess of shop displays strewn about the store.

No arrests have been made. Police are investigating the incident.

The tactic of ram-raiding a vehicle into a store entrance before stealing
items has been seen in other San Francisco businesses, including a
   Downtown Dior store.
