That's all well and good, but the problem isn't usually the sentence imposed
but the LACK of charges and/or prosecution for those who commit violent
   crime.

I would much rather see, a push of certain crimes were prosecution is
encouraged. or if convicted require a certain mandatory time to be served.
It does no good to call for 10-20 years if they let him be put on probation
6 months into his sentence. For violent crimes maybe 50% of the sentence
must be served before parole is even an option. Repeat offenders
(particularly those on probation during the crime) should be ineligible for
any parole, and further they complete their original sentence in full before
they start serving time of the current offense.

They either learn to play nice with others, or they spend much/most of their
lives in jail. Though if they wish, we can allow them to chose self
   execution.
