The loss of a contract with Target is causing a custodial company to lay off
   75 employees in Minnesota.

A notice delivered to the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic
Development details the permanent layoffs that will be effective June 1 for
   employees at Major Metro.

It comes after Target ended its janitorial contract, which will affect
employees at 17 Minnesota stores, which are as follows:

Apple Valley - 15560 Pilot Knob Rd
Apple Valley - 15150 Cedar Ave

Eden Prairie - 8225 Flying Cloud Dr
   Edina - 7000 York Ave S
Inver Grove Heights - 7841 Amana Trl
   Lakeville - 18275 Kenrick Ave
   Minneapolis - 900 Nicollet Mall
Minneapolis - 1650 New Brighton Blvd
   Minnetonka - 4848 County Road 101
   Minnetonka - 13201 Ridgedale Dr
   North St Paul - 2199 Hwy 36 E
   Richfield - 6445 Richfield Pkwy
   St Louis Park - 8900 Highway 7

"A new custodial vendor has not been identified at this time, so it is unknown
if the impacted employees will be retained/rehired by the new contractor," the
DEED notice issued on May 8 read.

The notice sent from Major Metro to DEED said that the Target contract was the
company's only contract in Minnesota, and as a result the company "will cease
performing any business functions within Minnesota, except for minor
   administrative matters
   related to cessation of operations."
