XPost: alt.los-angeles, talk.politics.guns, alt.niggers       XPost: sac.politics, alt.fun       From: investors@crockbros.org              Nordstrom plans to shutter its location at the Santa Monica Place shopping       center, the luxury department store chain announced this week.              In a statement to KTLA 5 News, a spokesperson said the store’s last day of       business will be August 26. No specific reason was given for the closure.              “Decisions like this are never easy, and we understand the impact they       have on our team members,” a Nordstrom spokesperson said. “We’re committed       to taking care of our employees through this transition, including       supporting those who are interested in finding another role within       Nordstrom.”              The Santa Monica Place Nordstrom opened approximately 15 years ago.              The company’s announcement comes less than a week after a police officer       was shot at Santa Monica Place while attempting to arrest a man suspected       of shooting two teenagers in an autonomous Waymo taxi.              The 500,000-square-foot shopping center is located at the southern end of       Santa Monica’s struggling Third Street Promenade, which has seen an       increase in vacancies dating back to the pandemic.              In May, the Santa Monica City Council approved a motion to allow open       alcohol consumption along the promenade in an effort to revitalize the       area.              Nordstrom began in 1901 as a shoe store in Seattle, Washington, founded by       Swedish immigrant John Nordstrom. Over the decades, it expanded from       footwear into a full-line fashion retailer and currently has more than 360       stores in the United States, including Nordstrom Rack locations.              https://ktla.com/news/local-news/nordstrom-closing-santa-monica-place/              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
