   >Then why the tariffs?

   1) The USA's tariffs counter the tariffs other country's put on our
   products.

   2) attempts to rebuild the USA's industrial base needs a little help..

Past US Government intervention in the labor market, coupled with
stupidity of industrial leaders drove up labor costs to where US
industry could not compete with cheap labor foriegn countries.

   3) utilize the USA's consumer power to the benefit of the country's
   industrial base.

   >Don't they artificially contaminate the market?

Yes, much like the EV subsidies contaminated the market. Much like
labor unions do. Much like the minumum wage does.

   >Why do you shift your opinion depending on the subject being

   same reason's yours do...

   >"Competition is good until somebody gets better at it than we are."

Working within the law of supply and demand is always good.

People who engage in activities they call "civil disobedience
are doing the exact opposite of disobedience. They are trying
to make other people obey their demands.
