   Well, back in April, both irc.eskimo.com and irc.aohell.org (which as   
   listed as the replacement back then) were down for longer periods of   
   time, and people didn't start trickling back into the channel until they   
   figured out to either use irc.newnet.net or go to the website and find   
   the server list. So much for using specific servers...   
      
   Telling people to connect to irc.newnet.net and keep trying if it   
   doesn't work is a more durable solution, and I think it's simpler too.   
   Just one "server" to worry about.   
      
   Splits, and to a lesser extent lag, (since all servers seem to be in the   
   US anyway, lag is usually not a problem) are good points, though.
