   Definately heading into off-topic land, but I can assure you I'm no   
   "noob" and I use .Net because I find it makes me more productive on many   
   levels.   
      
   The amount of RAM that a .Net application uses is directly proportional   
   to how much time and effort is put into controlling dependencies.  The   
   more libraries you pull into an application, the more it will have to   
   put into RAM to make it work.  It's just like C/C++ in that regards. You   
   will find, though, that a GUI written in .Net will be faster and smaller   
   than the same one written in Java, and a lot less likely to cause system   
   instability than one written in C/C++.
