The C128 had a C64 mode... So, how about a Commodore like computer with
maybe 800x600 native mode _and_ a C128 emulation mode, and C64 emulation
mode? Inexpensive of course. They could advertise it as a first computer
for young teens and children. And then, there would also be a market among
   old farts like myself...

Of course it would be compatible with VGA monitors and have a few USB ports.
Then they could market accessories, like a 3 1/2" USB drive with a native
   1600KB mode _and_ a 1581 emulation mode. And a 1541 compatible 5 1/4" USB
   drive.

Then for the native mode, some more modern USB accessories, like a DVD/CD
   player.

Hopefully the powers that be will read this post and like the idea(s). To be
more realistic, this is just dreaming a little bit... but sometimes, just
   occasionally, dreams come true.
