   Acorn did something similar with one of their machines (the Archimedes   
   possibly?) giving a set trade-in price regardless of state of traded   
   computer...the company I was working for at the time was getting all sorts   
   of machines for the trade-in, including a ZX80; they were just smashed up   
   and binned.  [I only found out about the ZX80 after it had been destroyed 8-( ]
