1581-Copy was constructed for and does work only under
true plain old DOS. It requires true (no virtualization)
and direct (no interception layer or API) access to the
floppy controller hardware. Modern OSes like Linux or
Windows prevent such techniques for important reasons,
   security being one of them.

To get direct access to the controller hardware again
you need to write a kernel mode device driver which is
a difficult, painful and very time consuming work. Simon
Owen did this with fdrawcmd.sys as well as Jason Watton
   with Omniflop.

To accomplish the requested task get and install either
fdrawcmd.sys along with the accompanying 1581disk
utility or Omniflop. Both tools as well as the latest
version of my 1581-Copy (for DOS) series are referenced
   or hosted at http://d81.de.
