   I am still an enthusiast of the 8x8 grid combat mode. Less is more...   
      
   I can think about an online version. Max. 7 players... (6+1DM).   
   Monsters moved by a real human would be much more effective.   
   Of course, you can take Pen and Paper (offline). But the old SSI engine   
   should be enough for the online version. Never again being scorched in   
   the front rows by a fireball from the mage in the party, due to   
   chess-like exact demarcations. etc.   
      
   Well, modern 3D community says: That's life, in reality you can miss   
   with a fireball too.   
   Weasel words...   
   Tsk, a real horse is not riding 2 steps forward and 1 slantwise too,   
   and chess is still one of the best games.
