   How many 'knights in ordinary' are there?   
      
   Several thousand.   
      
   Neither the Order of the Thistle or The Order of the Garter are typical.   
      
   For a start, of the seven mentioned in each order at least two or three will   
   be royalty.   
      
   Others will be almost certainly be foreign royalty.
