   i don't know what kind of calls you have but lots of people pause for   
   all sorts of reasons.   
      
   as i said before, if driving conditions warrant, toss the phone and   
   concentrate on the driving. if the other person is left wondering   
   what's going on, too damned bad.

   why does it matter if she heard you or not? toss the phone and take   
   cover. you can always explain *later* what happened.
