   On this, Rod, you're dead wrong.   
      
   Anyone in the USA who knows this can test it out. At least nine   
   times out of ten, if a truck passes you, and then puts his turn   
   signal on to get back in the lane you're in, and if you flash   
   him (usually a double flash of your headlights), when he pulls   
   back over, you'll see he will double flash his tail lights   
   as a thank you.   
      
   This is quite normal in the USA.   
   I've done and seen it a thousand times.   
      
   Anyone who doesn't know it, or anyone who hasn't seen it,   
   has simply been ignorant of it, like so many other things   
   (such as the direction of the stripes in a construction sign,   
   or such as the direction of increase in all interstate mile   
   markers, or of breakaway signs, etc.).
