   We'll see...

There is no need to test anything with RULE OF THE ROAD.

You check the legislation on that question.

I just don’t believe you on that 9 times out of 10
and I just don’t believe that very many are actually
stupid enough to flash their headlights in that
situation where the truck driver has a MUCH
better view of what traffic is doing than the
driver of the car being passed will ever have.

You can't even claim that the truck driver has
a particular problem with not being able to
see whether they are past the car being passed
so that its safe to pull back into the same lane
that the car is in, because if they can't see the
car in their mirror on that side, they wont be
able to see that car's headlights to see the
   flash in the daytime anyway.

   > This is quite normal in the USA.
   > I've done and seen it a thousand times.

I just don’t believe that very many car drivers
bother to flash their headlights in that situation.

I have never ever seen anyone do that here.

I have seen something quite different, in hilly areas
where it can be hard to see what is coming towards
you, when you are behind a truck that you want to
overtake, the truck driver being much higher than
the car can see that its safe to overtake when the
car driver can't see that, and can indicate to the
car driver that its safe to overtake.

   > Anyone who doesn't know it, or anyone who
   > hasn't seen it, has simply been ignorant of it,

It has nothing to with ignorance with
something as visible as headlight flashing.

If you see someone coming toward you
flash their headlights like that during the
day it normally means that there is a cop
car booking people for exceeding the speed
limit up ahead of where you are headed
or sometimes just an obstruction like cattle
   on the road etc.

   > like so many other things (such as the
   > direction of the stripes in a construction sign,

No such animal here. No stripes at all in fact.

   > or such as the direction of increase
   > in all interstate mile markers,

What ? We have mile markets on the side
of the road that are appropriate for the
cars on that side of the road. You cant even
seen what is on the ones on the other side
of the road except in your rear vision mirror.

And we have fucking great side of a bus
sized signs with the distance to major
towns just after major intersections too.

   > or of breakaway signs, etc.).

Not at all clear what you are talking about there even after googling it.
