In fact hardly anyone moves movies from phone to phone using sd cards.

Irrelevant to what we were discussing, MOVIES and how long it takes to
put those on a particular phone using a card instead of a cable or wifi.

   > Same with movies.

Nope, fuck all MOVE MOVIES FROM PHONE TO PHONE using a card.

Even kids mostly just airdrop them with idevices, something android can't
   do.

   > I can play scores of previously saved movies on any other device
   > simply by popping the expansion card into another device.

Yes that is possible, but fuck all in fact do it like that BETWEEN PHONES.

   > This works well between me and the wife because I'm

But it makes a lot more sense to move the movies to the phone
using a cable or wifi because that is MUCH FASTER overall.

I in fact do that myself, torrent them using the desktop
because I find it more convenient to torrent on the
desktop and then move it to the iphone or ipad using
a cable, because that is much faster than using an sd
card to move it to the phone or tablet.

I do use usb sticks for the others that play them on their PS3/4
or set top box because those arent portable enough and the
usb sticks are. And the usb sticks are much more convenient
to use than sd cards in phones and tablets too.

But is a stupid approach instead of cable or wifi.

Just as true of wifi and cable.

   > But, I do agree that the movies have to be downloaded in

No I wouldn’t, because I do that myself just as quickly.

   > (audio or video or both) in the background.

Yeah, but I get the youngest kid to do that himself. He mostly
does get his music from youtube and is quite capable of doing
that himself. No point in using an sd card at all.

   > So, other than presumably slowing down the CPU, all the downloading
   > (for both movies and APKs) is done in the background.

Irrelevant to what is being discussed, whether there is
any point in using a card in that situation. There isnt.

   >>> It takes the same amount of time to transfer
   >>> 10MB as it does to transfer 64GB that way.

   >> But doesn't with the time it takes to put it on the card in the first
   >> place.

   > The downloading of APKs and movies is done in the background.
   > I'm sure there's a background CPU/IO hit; but it's not noticeable.

No point in downloading it to a phone that isnt going to be the
phone the movies are played on and moving it to the phone the
movies are going to be played on using a card. Makes a lot more
sense to download it to the desktop and move it to the phone or
tablet using a cable or wifi once its been downloaded.
