Yes, particularly with the very low memory low priced
androids. But even with those, while the card is very useful
for stuff like movies and photos etc, it isnt for the apps.

But with those there is no point in using a card to get
the audio onto the phone, wifi is much better for that.

I mostly listen to podcasts from our govt national broadcaster,
hardly any ads on those, just a few promos for other stuff from
the same source at times.

Its mostly just kids that share stuff like that from phone to phone
and they airdrop with iOS because its so effortless to move them
that way. They mostly use a cloud with android, mostly using wifi.

Cloud and wifi. Cable would be faster if the wifi isnt
the fastest available, but would involve more farting
around since it’s a mixed android ipad config.

See above. They wouldn’t normally already be on android.
That would only happen if someone shows up with the movies
on their android phone and you want a copy on your ipad.
In that case cloud and wifi unless you want to bugger around
manually for the faster cable transfer when either the android
or ipad can't do that fastest wifi or when both can't.

Nar, he's an apple fanatic, doesn’t have any androids at all.
He does have some games consoles, mostly xboxes etc.

I don’t do that on iOS, I do that on Win7. Same with torrenting.
iOS does automatically download the podcasts I have told it I want
to listen to when out walking for exercise, over the home wifi without
any manual activity at all except telling it that I want it to do that with
particular podcast series and does that for years until I tell it to stop.
I don’t do that with youtube videos because I need the full video in
fact the lecture does refer to a slide I need to have a look at and I can't
be bothered stopping walking and looking that slide etc. That's why I
just use podcasts, not youtube lectures like the TED lectures.
I listen to the TED lectures on the desktop, mostly playing Freecell Pro,
like I do with the free to air TV that I never watch live so I can watch
when I want to instead of when its broadcast and skip the ads.

There is no need to move a movie from an android phone to an ipad
when you torrent it using the desktop. Just move it to whatever the
person who got you to torrent it wants to watch it on. In my case
on the one kid watches stuff on his ipad on the train, all the rest
watch the movies on their PS3/4s or set top boxes. They do all
have androids, but they prefer to watch the movies on their TVs
using their PS3/4 or set top box and so I put the movies on a usb
stick because that is the quickest way to move the movies.
