In the case of soda bottles, if you paid, say, $100       in the year for the CRV, you only get back about $90 because California       *taxes* the CRV!              Likewise, you pay a sales tax to buy a tire, and then you pay *another*       sales tax on that same tire when you bring it in for disposal!              They also have a sales tax on phones that you get for free - yup - you pay       about $70 sales tax on a free $700 phone even though you get the phone for       free (of course, you're paying for the phone internally in your contract       but *that* is taxed also!).              Any state that can have consistently the highest taxes in the nation       deserves notice - especially since it's the only state I know of that is       too poor to afford yellow school buses.              QUESTION:       Is there any other state other than California that is too poor to afford       yellow school buses?              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
