Proof Apple is all about making the user *feel* safe, while not being safe.

Is again any more proof needed that Apple never tests even the simplest
things in the real world on some of the most expensive phones in the world?

   Verbatim quotes:
o "Apple has a long history of lockscreen bypass bugs"
o "iOS 6.1 allowed attackers to access phone records"
o "iOS 6.1 allowed attackers to access phone contacts"
o "iOS 6.1 allowed attackers to access photos freely"
o "iOS 7 also included a similar security hole"
o The iOS 8.1 lockscreen was bypassed
... and now... only hours after iOS 12.1 releases ...
o "We've tested this exploit and can confirm it works on iOS 12.1"

These bugs (and many others, e.g., Mac root bugs where a child could log on
as root) prove, beyond any doubt, Apple doesn't test even the simplest
   things in the real world.

As always, Apple is all MARKETING and no actual security.
Apple MARKETING makes the user *feel* safe (without actually being safe).

In fact, Apple lets you, the user, do their real-world testing for them.
