Apparently Apple has been struggling for almost a year with how to "market
the message", that the line of merely incremental iPhones were priced
   astronomically too high!

Look at this article, from almost a year ago, which clearly explains that
Apple simply priced their phones too high - but - that Apple doesn't want
to look like they did that - which is why Tim Cook, in the latest
interview, hinted at spending much of their efforts devising ways to fool
the customer with hide-the-price games that only stupid customers will
   believe.

While I agree the average iPhone customer is easily fooled, it seems that,
for the first time, the sheep finally looked up and realized they were
being screwed - so - they reacted - the sheep simply stopped grazing.

This should be no surprise to Apple, despite the fact that Tim Cook said it
   was.

o Can Apple Ever Walk Back on iPhone Pricing?
o The Mac maker is caught between a rock and a hard place with its pricing
   strategy.

"*Apple finds itself caught between two unappealing alternatives*
Some companies are able to occasionally justify price reductions
by saying they are delivering cost savings back to consumers,
but that page appears to be missing out of Apple's marketing playbook.
Most of the time, Apple prefers to quietly pocket cost savings in order
to boost its margins, which is good for investors at the expense of
      consumers"

What they got wrong was that now, even investors, are hurt:
o Astronomical Apple iPhone pricing is bad for consumers
