   Amazon's Kindle app was in a similar pissing contest with Apple   
    awhile back. Doing away with in-app purchases didn't seem to   
    damage them much. Just a bigger hassle for the customer. In my   
    case when the wife wants a Kindle ebook on one of her iProducts   
    she tells me and I order it using the Kindle app on my Android   
    phone and specify delivery to her iDevice. Less hassle than her   
    trying to navigate around the Safari browser for the   
    purchase...
