   Google Voice is not just useful if you don't have a phone plan or SIM   
   card, it's also useful when traveling and using a foreign SIM card   
   because you can still receive all your SMS and MMS. I ported my main   
   mobile number over to Google Voice last month when I changed from AT&T   
   to Verizon. Now I can read my SMS and MMS on the computer or have them   
   forwarded to a different phone.
