Agree almost completely with both of you in principle.

Since I own both iOS & Android, I can add deeper levels of detail...
o The default "organization" on both iOS & Android is "about the same".
o New app icons just go to the "end" of the line when you install stuff.

However, the more modern Android launchers provide more "control".
o For example, if you want to eliminate the dock, you can on Android
o But on iOS, you're _stuck_ with the primitive decisions of a decade ago

Modern Android launchers allow for far better app icon "organization.
o For example, if you want an icon in multiple places, Android does that
o In the more primitive iOS, you can't do something even that simple

Android launchers are modern in allowing placement on any grid.
o For example, if you want any grid whatsoever, Android does that
o But on iOS, you're _stuck_ with the primitive grid of a decade ago

This list goes on (and on and on), where the summary is what I've said:
   o The iOS launcher is a stone-age launcher - hence - it's simple.
o The iOS launcher hasn't been improved since it was invented
o Hence, the iOS launcher is essentially the same for the last decade

   Meanwhile:
o Android launchers _started_ at the primitive level of the iOS launcher'
o But every year, Android launchers improve in allowing functionality
o Such that Android launchers can do almost anything you want them to.

What this means, for the OP, is clearly obvious to me:
o *For the OP, the _simplicity_ platform is clearly the Apple iOS platform*
o *For others, the _functionality_ platform is clearly an Android platform*
