   Have you noticed that Android apps that WiFi graphical utilities which   
   access local SSID information must now have location permission enabled (as   
   of Android 6+)?     
      
   On Android 7 Nougat, on my LG Stylo 3 Plus, there were still some wifi   
   signal strength apps that didn't require location information to graph wifi   
   signal strength, but now, as of Android Pie, on my Moto G7, almost all seem   
   to need it now.   
      
   This explains what's going on:   
      
   o Why does the app require location permission for wifi signal when other apps   
   don't?   
      
      
   Notice that you can easily look up the location history of an SSID/BSSID:   
      
      
   Personally, I don't like Google's solution, which is to _force_ the user to   
   enable location privileges for all WiFi debugging apps even though the app   
   itself, never needed location information; but I understand that Google   
   wants people to definitely realize that your SSID "is" your location.   
      
   Anyone with smarts, who knows your phone's Mac Address, and a bit of   
   guessing about you, can determine your location, not as easily as the   
   location of your home, but not all that much harder if they "guess" well   
   (which we covered years ago in detail on a thread on that topic).
