   The Gun Shop Owner would be opening themselves up to sexual identity and   
   other types of law suits...   
      
   They don't need to know about the person since the laws in place are   
   there for the Government to know who that person is.   
      
   If the responsibility were in the hands of the shop owner then they   
   might need to do it for liability but since the Government is doing the   
   Background Check, it's up to Government to look for legal entanglements.   
      
   Funny how that works, the government wants to pass laws and then tries   
   to force the private owners or private citizens to enforce those laws so   
   the government can doesn't have to pay for doing it.   
      
   But that's an unfunded law and to make believe that the citizens have to   
   enforce laws is a failed policy.
