Yes the sentencing is the punishment... be it paying money for damages
or time in prison or loss of freedoms for a period of time, there are
even sentencing guide lines... and limits.

And once the sentence has been served... you are "free" see the 13th
   Amendment.

     *Amendment XIII*
Section 1. Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, *except as a*
*punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted*
, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their
   jurisdiction.

Losing your RIGHTS is a form of SLAVERY or involuntary servitude for
crimes you have been duly convicted of....

It say right there that you have to be duly convicted and that it's
punishment for that crime when you are inducted into slavery and that's
where your RIGHTS are taken and one of those RIGHTS is your *LIBERTY* as
they lock you in a prison and another is to NOT be enslaved by losing
your rights, so you give up your RIGHTS in exchange for having committed
that crime and the sentencing is the punishment and the time it will
last... and being out on parole or on probation is the same as being in
prison, you can be denied those RIGHTS until you serve the time on
parole or probation. But after it's served you are once again a normal
citizen or person unless you received a life sentence and are on parole
or probation for life you are back to being a FREE MAN/Woman.

Then they serve that sentence as well.

That would mean the sentencing has a life term on the punishment.

All their RIGHTS other than to decent human treatment and ones that
specify they can't be tortured for a confession... while in custody...
those are the RIGHTS the criminals are delegated in the Constitution.
Like the RIGHT to a lawyer and to be silent... The criminal enters a
different world called slavery and involuntary servitude where they only
have the RIGHTS specified by the Civil RIGHTS in the Constitution. They
   are no longer free person's.
