You can       normally hear it loud, then as the AVC kicks in it mutes it somewhat.       (that's real easy in the shop with a square wave input and a scope on       the output) It's not a perfect system, if the artist wants a certain       part of the song to be much louder, the AVC attempts to cancel that out.        It doesn't completely but it tries. I think Rock-Ola's from late       60's- early 70's had a problem with the AVC where as it was placing the       record on the turntable it sensed no sound so it turned up the volume.       Then the first couple seconds of the record was often noticeably louder.              Seeburg had a better setup, combining the mute with the AVC. During       record change it is muted, then as soon as the record is clamped on the       turntable, the mute goes off and the volume starts rising, usually good       timing with the tone arm in the records feed in groove and the AVC is       near it's mid point when the music actually starts.              Tony              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
