|    ? Dutch CBS vinyl catalogue numbers    |
|    06 Aug 06 19:15:51    |
XPost: nl.muziek       From: kasperjensen@post.tele.dk              I hope that somebody can inform me about this matter.                            CBS in Denmark had their records pressed in the United Kingdom until       1972 or 1973. Afterwards they were pressed in Holland. A few of the UK       copies were reprinted in Holland.                            The CBS catalogue numbers for records are e.g.:              LP Gasolin': Live In Skandinavien, CBS 83240, 1978              MC Gasolin': Live In Skandinavien, CBS 40-83240, 1978              LP Gasolin': Supermix, CBS 84154, 1980              MC Gasolin': Supermix, CBS 40-84154, 1980              LP Kim Larsen: Jungle Dreams, CBS 84854, 1981              MC Kim Larsen: Jungle Dreams, CBS 40-84854, 1981                            The LPs don't have a pre-number and the MCs have the pre-number "40".                            I have seen the MC Kim Larsen: Jungle Dreams, CBS 41-84854 released in       the Mastersound-serie. As far as I understand some MCs were released in       the early 80'ies with a better sound in this Mastersound-serie with the       pre-number "41". Please note that this LP/MC have been released in       Spain, Greece and Canada too                            I have a very few times seen the LP Gasolin'; Supermix, CBS 21-84154.       But what does "21" mean? My guess is that is a pre-release for       promotional use or a late test pressing. Does anyone know something more       about that? Has it been used on other records? Please note that this LP       was released in Sweden and Norway - another pressing was released in       Denmark (Gasolin': Supermix 1, CBS 83985, 1980)                            I have seen the LP Gasolin': Live In Skandinavien, CBS 13.83240, 1978       once (please note a "." instead of a "-"). But what does "13" mean?       Please note that this LP (CBS 83240) originally was released with yellow       vinyl but later in 1978 or 1979 was re-released with black vinyl. The       CBS 13.83240 is with black vinyl. Does anyone have any idea of why this       strange catalogue number was used? Is it used on other records?                            I have asked the staff which worked for the Danish CBS division 25 years       ago but none of them remember why. I really hope that somebody (maybe       Dutch CBS staff) have an idea of why these different catalogue numbers       were used.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
