From: jamesanderson59@webtv.net              Hi,              Isoproprly alcohol is easily available on your drugstore shelf (it is in       the u.s. anyway). It's relatively cheap. Do not use it full strength on       your records. Dilute it by about 25% (3 parts alcohol to 1 part       distilled water) in a spray bottle. Spray a small amount on your record       before playing and wipe off using a disc cleaning pad or lint free       record cloth (still available at your local radio shack store). Never       saturate disc, or put disc away damp or wet.              Never use any alcohol or solvent cleaner on old 78 rpm discs. It will       destroy them.              Some collectors might disagree with my formula, but I've been doing this       for years and I've never had a problem when using it sparingly. The       trick is to keep your discs in protective mylar slips to keep dust, dirt       and smoke (if you smoke) out of your records. Always handle them by the       edges, and avoid finger contact with the grooves. Never wipe against the       grain of your record grooves. Clean with pad or cloth WITH the grooves.       Doing this, you shold not need to apply cleaner very often. Also using a       turntable mat helps, as well as keeping you dust cover down when       turntable is not in use.              I hope I haven't given you too much info here...lol. But I figured if       you needed info on Isoprpryl, you would probably find the rest of this       info useful too. I don't mean to assume that you are not educated on       such things...I'm just trying to be helpful.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
