|    Relation between 16 2/3, 33 1/3, 45 and     |

From: henkweltje@wanadoo.nl              Hi all,              Maybe this topic was already addressed in this newsgroup, but anyway...here       you are...       My father (76) repaired since WWII up to now all kinds of audio and video       equipment, but is still puzzled if there is some logical explanation why the       rpm numbers of the major record sizes 16 2/3, 33 1/3, 45 and 78 relate so       much.              Is there an explanation why :       a) the sum of 33 and 45 equals 78       b) two times 16 2/3 equals 33 1/3       or is this just a big coincidence?              Today he asked his question on a dutch radio station and they didn't know.              Although you probably know, 16 2/3 was only used for recording speech and       later replaced by tape recorder.              Thanks for answerring this one,                     Henk Weltje              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
