|    JAZZ LPS ON EBAY    |
|    13 Mar 05 20:05:49    |
In the past, I have tried to notify you about "watchers" when you have       bid on lps, to prepare you for snipers.              Unfortunately, Ebay no longer supplies the seller with the email       address of someone who is bidding, so I can't send you out these       notices. However, if at any time you want to know how many watchers       there are, feel free to email me. I am usually on line quite a bit on       the day that my auction ends - Sunday.              Now a brief word about this week's auction              The first four items here are what I consider worthy of special       mention:        HERB HALL RARE SACKVILLE LABEL SWING JAZZ MINT LP        4709973671 $2.99              Herb Hall was a highly respected swing clarinetist, often overshadowed       by his brother, Edmond. This lp, made by a very classy small company       from Canada, features Hall in a quartet setting, playing they way he       would most want to be heard. Claude Hopkins was a fine pianist and       Arvell Shaw's bass playing was heard on some of Louis Armstrong's       greatest recordings.               HARRY JAMES HARRY NOT JESSE RARE MINT JAZZ TRUMPET LP       4709992045 $4.99              I'm a fan of Harry James, but even I know that he had his share of       schlock. This lp is a Basie influenced swinging group of Neil Hefti       compositions which not only shows James at his best, but a few of his       sidemen too, including altoist Willie Smith.               ART FARMER JAMES MOODY RARE SCEPTER LABEL LP MINT       4709993866 $9.99              This is a beautifully organized and arranged bop performance, with Tom       McIntosh putting together the charts, and Moody, Farmer and Tommy       Flanagan the featured soloists. It is very much a labor of love, and       not an easy lp to find.                      WILLIS JACKSON PAT MARTINO CHARLES EARLAND JAZZ TENOR       4709989062 $3.99              This lp shows that Willis Jackson was more than just a funky player.       He swings his butt off in a very boppish vein. The addition of       guitarist Pat Martino and organist Charles Earland really kicks this       performance into high gear. You'll love it and the price is right.                     I always try to include some specially priced bargains. Here are the       ones for this week:               CECIL TAYLOR Air Above Mountains |
