|    Scott International Questions    |
|    31 Jan 06 21:50:10    |
From: nick@mr2ice.com              Hi,              I posted awhile back mentioning how I had acquired a bunch of Scott       International Part 1 albums, and a couple of Jr's. One of the Juniors, in       particular, was spectacular. It was bound, and I wanted to cut it up, punch       holes, and use it as my keeper. Lots of great advice followed, but as it       turns out, I've been merging into my "runner up" album. The Junior was       actually up-to-date, but I opted for a standard binder w/ later pages.              Anyway. With the end of my merge process in sight (I'm being very       optimistic!), I've been wondering what to do with my parts 2->6. I have the       equivelant of one each of the original albums, and this set that was       previously combined in country/date order. I haven't looked too closely at       these; perhaps I should before I ask this. But here goes anyway.              In looking at another combined set of albums someone else owned (parts 1->6       or so), I noticed that he had to place some pages out of order. I only       noticed the pages from part 1 being this way. He did this when a country       would end on one side of the page, and a new country would start on the       next. His solution was to place this page way at the end of the current       county so the new country started correctly. So, you'd have Austria to 1965       or so, followed by a page of 1940's Austria BOB stuff, then the next country       on the flipside (Austria used randomly as an example, I'm not sure it's one       of the ones where this occurs).              I didn't find this appealing. But I see the dilema. Has anyone solved this       problem differently?              Now, I'm thinking of keeping my Part 1 as is, and building on my combo       Part's 2->6 as I have them from this one collection. This other fellow's       set didn't seem to have an issue with anything but part 1. Is this       situation somehow remedied in later volumes? If I attempt to find and merge       in parts 7 -> 10, will I keep hitting this? (I don't care to go too far       into modern times, as things seem to get too commercial and into       "popularity" issues at some point.              Another option is to keep the volumes I have that are in the original order.       I sort of like the combo idea, as long as I can keep the order tidy.              A piggy-back question here. I watched just this evening an apparently older       but unused Part 7 on eBay. I would prefer to find one with a partial       collection as a "starter set", but I thought I'd throw some money at it.       Pages were mildly toned, per the description. I thought I might have a       chance with a last minute low-ball bid. Ha!              It closed at $138. Why???               http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5659928814              Now, I haven't seen many Parts 7-10 on eBay, but I haven't looked for long       either. Are these somehow scarcer than the seemingly super common Parts       1->3 and so on?? I know you can still pay a fortune for them new, but I       would expect second hand copies to be a bit more reasonable.              Ok, I've probably typed so much that nobody will bother to read/respond.       Thanks in advance if you do! Interested in any opinions you'd care to       offer,              Nick              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
