   Well you can safely tell your 'quizmaster' they're "full of it"!

   Relying upon a (single?) source with wrong information isn't a proper
   quiz.

   FWIW: SG (and any other cat I have) lists this issue as "Rose-Red" or
   "Rose" being the shades. (SG: 48, 49; Vic Spec: G4; Scott: 58;
   Stoneham V49-V50; Morley {no #}.)

   On Wed, 1 Oct 2003 23:28:06 +0100, "Shiela S"
   found these unused words floating about:

   >Just thought you might be interested - who is right? I tend to think you
   are...
   >
   >The quiz has now closed and the answer is given as:
   >1. When was the First British halfpenny postage stamp in lilac issued?
   >October 1st 1870
   >
   >A google search brings up only one reference to this at http://
   ww.andibradley.com/whatya/oct01.htm
   >where it states : Oct. 1st 1870 - The first British halfpenny postage stamp,
   in lilac, was issued.
