|    Identifying collection contents?    |

From: spamtrap@achapman.freeisp.co.uk              All,              Following a recent death, we've come across an old stamp collection. It was       assembled mainly through the late victorian period going through to the       40s/50s. I don't think there's going to be many additions (if any) after       this.              A quick once-through seems to suggest it's mainly stamps from assorted       outposts of the British Empire, although there may be other countries in       there. Many of the stamps are still on envelopes.              Does anybody have any suggestions what the best bet to sort it out would be?       I'm sure most of it's probably stuff that's ten-a-penny, and not worth much       - but even I can recognise there's bound to be some gold in there.              What would be a good source to try to figure it out? I don't mind doing a       bit of work on it before taking the good stuff to a dealer for a more       thorough identification. What I don't really want to do is roll up to a       dealer with an old suitcase full of rubbish and waste their time - nor do I       want to be ripped off by being told the whole lot's worth a couple of       hundred quid if it's far more valuable than that!              Thoughts gratefully received!              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
