The web host for my son's massage therapy web site just disappeared a couple
of years ago. One moment they were there, the next they were gone. They
wouldn't respond to e-mails or telephone calls, and never did. Eventually
Paul got in touch with a company which had bought out the previous company,
but they had no records of his web site, and no files. Fortunately, he had
everything backed up, but what a pain! I wrote a letter to my local member
of Parliament, asking if here government had considered legislation to
control fly-by-night web hosts, but she never responded. So much for
   representative government.
