XPost: rec.collecting.stamps.discuss       From: dvfrench@lineone.net              I have won a GB QV stamp on Ebay with       hexagonal postmark, dated "JA30 82". It       shows a value of 3D - actually printed on       the top line of the postmark.              It is on an 1881 3-penny Rose stamp, type       SG.158, Plate 21.              I have found 2 other examples (poor) of this       hexagonal postmark in my albums. One on       a QV 2/6d. type SG. 178, & one on a 2-1/2d.       type SG. 190.              Does anyone on the NG have further details       about this postmark? All I know is that it       was an "experimental" type, used in London       only.              Is it a rarity?              Many thanks,              David.       --              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
