XPost: alt.collecting.stamp, alt.fan.stamp.collecting, alt.stamps       From: nokout777ERASETHIS@yahoo.com              I don't know much about stamps but most of them did not come in albums but       rather in tightly packed bunches of 100 each. a tiny little pack, that you       could never tell contains 100 stamps each, just by looking at it... anyway,       because of this some in the packs are damaged, etc nothing major, just the       usual bends and dents you get from maybe putting an elastic fairly tight       around some money bills.. also... I cannot say that the surfaces of those       stamps are even or smooth, not sure if this is due to the fact they've been       sitting all tightly packed like this for 50-70 years or whether its because       they were soaked in water etc.              in any case, could someone tell me if stamps like these, in a condition       similar to what I describe are of any lesser value? what if they were       soaked in water, etc. does that decrease value or would the scott catalog       value apply to them? how does one tell for sure that a stamp has been       water soaked/removed. none of these stamps have glue in the back and show       absolutely no gum, so I am forced to assume they were soaked in water. I       just don't know what that means to value etc. maybe someone can clarify,       thanks!              please remove spam protection from my address if emailing me, thanks.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
