   Actor Michael Pate who was one of the first Australian actors to have a   
   successful career playing American roles died this past Monday in New   
   South Wales of respiritory failure.He was 88. In the 1950's and 60s he   
   had TV roles on Gunsmoke, Rawhide, The Rifleman, and Zorro. In movies   
   PT109, The Court Jester, The Silver Chalice. He also wrote the   
   screenplay for Mel Gibson's 1979 film 'Tim'   
      
      
   Pro Wrestler Walter 'Killer' Kowalski who had a 30 year career on the   
   pro wrestling circuit with more then 6,000 matches died Aug. 30 at age   
   81. He was famous for his stomach vise grip called The Killer Clutch. In   
   a 1954 match with Yucan Jake, Yucan's ear was 'accidentally' ripped off   
   and Walter earned the reputation as a villain.   
      
   Maudie Hopkins the last documented Confederate soldier widow died Aug.   
   17 at 93. She married Civil War infantryman William Cantrell when he was   
   86 and she was 19. It was a marriage of convenience. He needed nursing   
   and she was 1 of 10 poor children in a sharecropper family. Unmarried   
   couples could not live together so they married. She became a widow 3   
   years later after William was thrown from a mule. A few other   
   Confederate widows are still living but do not want to be identified.   
   Possibly they have read posts in this group about stalkers wanting their   
   autograph? Who knows?
