Thanks so much for your thoughts on the AP photos. I think with Lobby
cards, they get more valuable because they are becoming more scarce
(as with press kit photos) because every kit/poster/print now is
digital and easily reprinted at cheap costs. The AP and other photos
   I have no clue about.

I asked because I just acquired a 1961 AP photo with the stamp on the
other said (said not for reproduction/other use). It's very thin
paper, not a good quality photo but back then it wasn't as good as
now. It did have words on it typed... but it could've been reprinted
with someone stamping the back... who knows how many might be in
existence. someone told me you can order 8x10's of AP photos for 55
dollars each now. But back then?

I was also considering buying some old photos too and wondered how one
assesses value. If you could get an original photo signed, I think
it'd be fantastic! but how much? That's the big question (if it's
   worth it).

I know a while back, Gary Kurtz (Star Wars Director) sold some of his
photos for a pretty penny. However, some were sold as originals from
the negative and then later on, I saw many people had the same item.
Who's to say which was the original original? If I paid 100-250 a
photo as I hear the fee was, I'd expect I'd be the ONLY one with that
photo? That's why I am asking. It's a new area to collecting to
   think about.
