From: dahoov2@cox.net              This is long but may be worth a read.              Ok, long day. I got there about 1 pm and nobody but one person was at       the tables signing (that was Lee Merriweather). She had a TON of       photos on here table to choose from including Cat Woman. I had no idea       she was ever Cat Woman...She posed for photos and chatted as long as       you wanted. Her daughter was with her (nobody bought anything from       her though). Prices at this event were more expensive than ever so I       hope people are not disappointed. Some were cheap; others not. Lee       Merriweather was 20.00 but for Paul, he got a really great Star Wars       photo. Nice quality. I took a photo OF her, but not with here (I       didn't do photos with any of them though every single one would have.       My husband had no qualms about getting the free signatures from the       daughter (a stunt double in many films) on our programs free. Both       were very kind; Lee Merriweather of all of them you could tell she       wasn't all into it but for your 20.00 you can know her entire proceeds       went to a children's charity. Hope that makes Paul feel better.              At 1:30 or so, people started coming back from panels, lunch etc.       Before I say what was next, let me say I did not get Wild Bill       Elliot's sig. I saw him but don't really know him. I just felt funny       not buying something and getting the free sig in my program. I never       saw "The Virginia Rounders" or "Blue River Bluegrass Band" and       likewise, have no clue who they are so didn't get the sigs (didn't go       out of my way to get them).              Richard Herd was the one who impressed me the most. He was humble,       acted like acting is just a job and it's not all it's cracked up to be       and though he's been fortunate, he doesn't like to be reminded of       awards. Oh and don't tell him he looks like Karl Malden! I couldn't       tell if he was upset with the man on the panel (the historian posing       questions) or was jesting. But our encounter with him was pleasant       and he posed for a photo and laughed and had more stories of all these       famous people! He let us in on the fact he may play a major       personality sometime soon... John Ford. He's been asked to and is       contemplating it but at 75, he says it's too much work. He was very       entertaining and you could stand there and talk a half hour with him;       he didn't care. As for graphs, Paul got one and like Merriweather,       great looking photo of a Klingon was signed. He has another photo but       I hope that's ok. Apparently, he played several characters? I did       not know that. I will check my list, for his price. It was either 10       or 20; I forget right this minute (tired)) Oh, we saw Richard Herd       last night on a Seinfeld episode, so that was pretty darn cool.              I sat down to reorganize and Scott got Gene Lesser to sign our       programs and Mr. Lesser told Scott to send me over to say hi. I felt       odd about not purchasing anything, so I couldn't do it. I am a sap I       guess. The same for Jacqueline Scott and Gregory Walcott. They       signed both programs free and was kind to my hubby.              William Sanderson was a no show because of the writer's strike. They       called him back to shoot something they finally got written and       contractually, he had to be there.              Next up was Don Kay Reynolds who said I was the first one to ask for       anything about Lord of the Rings. His phiotos were really cheesy       (except a couple of the Cowboy ones); the LOTR one was really bad, but       I got it for Holger anyway at 10.00 which you are paying for the sig       anyway. It's a photo of him training Gendalf's horse (Ian McKellan),       However, it was here I got a freebie. He signed my poster free when       he saw Ian McKellan's sig on it. He asked me how I got the sigs and       he just signed free... I was lucky for once!              Richard Devon was a long time to wait for. He was the DEAL of the       day. 5 bucks!!!! I got Rob an index card signed and my Ewok cel. He       did tell me his character and that he met George Lucas. He was very       hard to talk to because he's going deaf and lost his hearing aid or       something. He was also very shaky but very kind and smiley. I think       he was happy people remember him; mostly he's one of those old       contract actors for Warner Brothers etc and did a ton of old Westerns.              Now for the last two... Oh man, the LeGarde twins. Man, they WERE       there signing alas, they only had one item to sign and that was a       photo dressed up in Star Trek uniform; not a scene from the series.       However, I did offer them a chance for help. I was hoping people can       help me, help them. Does ANYONE have the original series on DVD that       they were in? If so, if you can burn me a copy or perhaps send me       photos, I can pass onto them. I am going to search till I find       someone who can help me. For my trouble, I can probably get a couple       freebies signed then and pass one or something to the ones that helped       me. The photos were crappy in my opinion. However, they were signed       by both, they were trek and they were cheap at 10.00 total for the set       of sigs so I did get Paul and Dax one. I figure this makes up for       Paul's expensive ones because all his others were 20.00 (so dollar       cost averaging means only 14.00 total a piece... which is actually in       total, a great deal convention wise). But the LeGarde twins were       really fantastic. Animated, eager to story tell and get this... one       grabbed my hand, would not let go and sang a song which half way       through his brother stood up and started singing too! LOL It was       hilarioius and they are still talented. Great fun to meet them (I'd       never heard of them before).              Lastly, the pain of it all.... Roger Davis. He's nice; very nice ...       don't get me wrong. He's just in some ways "typical Hollywood". He       is always late, never stays the full time and is a shmoozer and       obviously into being rich and that means yes, even for what I consider       not so great items, he charged 20.00. I knew it before I got to his       table. see he hasn't shown up all day at that point till the panel       discussion which he was on time for; kind of. He was in the hall       anyway, almost ready. Talking. Again. Talking on the phone, talking       with fans, talking with anyone who could potentially help him make       money... really. He got to his table and was going to sign (for about       5 minutes and then sent his guy to get Dark Shadows photos made as he       only had ONE photo. It's a western event so it was all western stuff       and stuff like that. So he didn't want to lose us... so had the guy       make 100 of them at Kinkos. We went and ate dinner and came back. Oh       the guy ran and did it fast, but there was Roger, in the hall for       about half an hour (while I am waiting) talking to the hotel guy about       restructuring the hotel! See, roger is now an Architect or developer.       He told us he made 24 million selling 4 houses in Hollywood and built       a skyscraper in Kentucky and now in a HUGE venture where his partners              [continued in next message]              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
