Another fork of a fork of a fork of Debian...              As other said (wrote) here, take care... The desktop environment is what       makes a computer fast ... or not!              Zorin seems to have a flavour of Gnome 3.x, which is not really good for       older hardware to keep performance up. Problematic is also KDE 4.x.       These DEs are really overbloated as windboobs 7 and up, and will not fare       very well on netbooks out of the box or everything beyond highend i586/i686.              Other distros give the possibility to choose some lighter desktops such as       LXDE, based on Gnome 2 or 3 but running faster with less eyepopping       gimmicks... And adding the minimal packages from Gnome or KDE let you run       all the applications you want from these two major DEs without all the CPU       loads of them.              As for 32 or 64 bits... It depends on the architecture of your processor.       And if you want to run some 32 bit applications like Skype, you can also let       your system install the needed 32 bit libraries to run them.                     --              Ciao @+              < Sony VGN-FW54M powered by Mageia 4 x86-64 >              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
