Which is one reason few, if any, governmental organisations like
   installing *Nixware.
They do love to be able to spy on their users.

I originally "trained" myself to use *Nix OSes by simply
following the install instructions on a disk and trying to get
everything I previously had in Windows to run.
It didn't always work, some kit never worked, but it wasn't
   difficult.

When presented with WinTen, W8 and W8-1, all I did was visit my
local computer showroom and play with the icons. That didn't take much
   effort, either.
Most of the rest of learning WinTen was done on the fly while I was
talking people through *their* issues. https://ixquick.com/ is your
   friend.

Put nice, clear icons ("The Internet", "Your EMAIL", "Write
Documents", "Print", "Choose a Wallpaper" and "Some Games") on the
desktop and most people don't even notice the background Operating
   System. Nor do they care.

For my part, once I learn how to change the default colours,
wallpaper and sounds (all of which are always set to "Ugly and
Annoying") and how to install Firefox I'm good. :)
