I don't think Firefox is "buggy" exactly. It just demands and uses
tremendous amounts of RAM. Some of that is probably exacerbated by
various plugins. Adobe Flash is particularly bad - it tends to suck up
the RAM and is not very scrupulous about returning it. I've gotten in
the habit of restarting Firefox every once in a while, especially if
I've been watching Youtube for a while.

I see the same issues using Firefox in other OSs - it's not just an XP
thing. Still, I like its features and customization, so I put up with
   it.

I've seen the crash report window a few times, but it's certainly not a
regular thing. If I were you I'd try disabling all extensions and
plugins and add them back until I found the problem one. You might also
try creating a new fresh profile, which could avoid any possible
   corruption in your old one.
