   I looked it up in the wikipedia before posting, my music classes were   
   too long ago ;-)   
      
   "Sostenido" rises the note half a tone.	   
   "Bemol" lowers it.   
   "Becuadro" nulls the alteration.   
      
   In fact, the wikipedia mentions that the "sostenido" symbol is not   
   exactly the same as the printed symbol "almohadilla", ie, the '#', and   
   displays a photo to compare them. The "sostenido" horizontal lines are   
   not really horizontal, so that they don't overlap and confuse with the   
   pentagram lines.
